The center of the New Cielos expanded its professional staff for categories 8-18 years and the small schools: more attention to the technical and competitions
The New Cielos team at the Olympic Training Center and Research (COTP), in São Paulo, has expanded its teaching staff. Now there are nine professionals working with 70 students, from ages 8 to 18 (new groups will integrate the swimming school). With these teachers, it will be possible to do a more efficient job in each of the age groups in training.
“They are professionals motivated to work with training. With this number of teachers, we can provide a more individualized work to each category, divide students better by age, give more attention to the technical and participate in more competitions”, explains Professor Luiz Barbosa Fernandes, coordinator.
TIRAR Também observa que o Novos Cielos também poderá ter espaço para mais crianças. “Podemos ter as escolinhas, estender o treinamento para mais crianças. O maior ganho eu acho será poder formar o atleta aqui dentro”, acrescentou Luiz.
Fernandes notes that the New Cielos may also have room for more children and new groups. “We can extend the training to more children. I think the biggest gain will be the opportunity to form the athlete here.”
“It’s great to see it all taking shape, see the project giving results. In my mind, from the start, I see the New Cielos as a way of giving back some of what swimming has given me, giving an opportunity to those kids”, says Cesar Cielo, who won, this season, his third world championship in the 50 m freestyle, after training in COTP alongside the guys from New Cielos.
