Faithful to the mission to encourage and promote the development and practice of swimming, Institute Cesar Cielo has been preparing the New Cielos II Tournament, to be held in late 2013 in Limeira.
In September 2012, the New Cielos I Tournament in Santa Barbara D’Oeste was attended by 200 children from ages 6 to14 years, from the three unities of the Institute: ANEL – Associação dos Nadadores e Esportistas de Limeira (Athletes and Swimmers Association of Limeira), Olympic Training Center and Research (COTP), from São Paulo City Hall, and the Sport Club Barbarense / Unimed.
Cesar Cielo was at the pool of Barbarense in 2012. Attentive, encouraged the young swimmers, posed for pictures, signed autographs and handed sympathy. “Many of the children had never been in a dispute with heats and an electronic scoreboard,” said Cielo, on occasion. “The competition was like a party, a conclusion to what they did during the whole year. And I hope an even more beautiful party for the New Cielos II.”
The main goal of the New Cielos is to help the Brazilian swimming growth through supporting young talent, with training for children and adolescents from 6 to 18 years. “Basically, the idea is to give structure to the kids who want to swim. Taking care of the pool, the human resource, thinking of trained teachers… With funding, the program will be able to offer subscriptions in tournaments, transportation, food, uniforms”, said Cielo. “All this will provide a continuous and qualified job, and, perhaps, stimulate the emergence of new champions.”
